Swimming Pool Alarms
If you have young children or animals and own an in ground or above ground swimming pool then I would seriously recommend purchasing a pool alarm. The alarm is designed to warn you when an object of a certain size is in the water by emitting a high pitched sound.
When searching for the best pool alarm make sure it meets American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) this indicates the alarm is basically up to the job of protecting your family and pets.
Features of Alarms
- Inexpensive - The cost of an average pool alarm will set you back $150 - $400. For a device that could save a person or
animal from drowning it’s well worth the small investment.
- Remote Monitoring - Some swimming pool alarms come with remote alarms with built in monitoring that can monitor if the batteries are running low.
- Auto Reset - some pool alarms have the ability to activate automatically when the pool water is still
- Active/Deactivate at Poolside - Magnetic keys which allows you to activate and deactivate the alarm at the poolside
- Sensor Technology – I love this one, some of the best pool alarms can record the vibrations, noises, pumps, filters and natural occurrences of your pool in the first 10 – 15 minutes so that they learn the normal habits of your pool which prevents false alarms in the future.
- Loud db (decibel) Signal – A good pool alarm will emit a loud signal of around 70 – 100 db if your pool is situated for from your house I suggest purchasing a louder alarm.
- Pool Alarm Range – check the range of the pool alarm you are considering if you have a big pool some suppliers will recommend purchasing 2 or more alarms to cover the whole pool area
