Swimming Pool Cleaners

Cleaning your inground or above swimming pool has never been easier and with advances in technology you can now purchase an automatic pool cleaning robot for under $600.

Of course you must realise that there are several types of pool cleaners available on the market today and purchasing the wrong type of cleaner will guarantee you return the product. Below I have outlined the different types of pool cleaners with an explanation of each one.

Robotic automatic pool cleaners – These robots are controlled by electric motors and powered from an outdoor GFCI outlet. The robot cleaner sucks up the dirt and debris into its filter system and the on board computer chip calculates or “learns” the shape & dimensions of your swimming pool and some of the more advanced robot cleaners come with remote controls so you can override them. As well as removing dirt, sand and other debris some robotic cleaners can clean the surrounding walls of the swimming pool. So to summarise if you have a budget of ranging from $500 - $2,000 then it makes sense to invest in one of these pool cleaners, just make sure you choose a good brand backed up by a good warranty.

Pressure side cleaners – A pressure side cleaner works from the water coming from a swimming pool pump, this pump can be your main circulation pump or a booster pump. The main benefit to this type of cleaner is the fact it does not vacuum debris into your pump basket or pool filter. If your swimming pool is situated near tress, plants, soil or sand then a pressure pool cleaner will be more suitable for you. The downside to a pressure side cleaner is that it does not pick up as much debris compared to a robotic cleaner and it will not scrub the walls as good.

Automatic Suction Cleaners – The cheapest method for cleaning your pool. Automatic suction cleaners use suction to move and vacuum around your swimming pool. The great advantage of this type of cleaner is it uses your pool filter system and moves the pool water through it, so it does not only suck up debris it runs your pool water through the filtration system. If your pool doesn’t see much debris then this is probably the cheapest and most effective method for you.

I hope this has given you a basic insight into the world of swimming pool cleaners.
