Swimming Pool Diving Boards
Not many people know this but there are actually 4 different types of diving board and the one you decide to purchase will depend on your individual needs. Diving boards are typically made from wood and then covered in fibreglass and some diving boards are made from non steel. The 4 types of boards are:
Diving Boards – typically made from wood and covered in fibreglass the board itself is flexible whilst the stand is rigid.
Diving Platforms – Again diving platforms are typically made from wood and covered in fibreglass and both the board and the stand are rigid. If you have a deep pool these are ideal as you won’t normally need to spring off a board into the water.
Jump Boards – Jump boards are typically made from wood and covered in fibreglass and are great fun. Both the board and the base are flexible which means you get a bigger bounce compared to other diving boards.
Diving Towers – A diving tower is typically 2 – 3 metres tall and requires a ladder to reach the board (of course the ladder is part of the diving tower).
Swimming pool diving boards can be a great addition to a below ground swimming pool. However there are certain factors that must be considered before purchasing a diving board, factors such as:
Insurance – believe it or not some insurance companies will not cover your pool diving board under your homeowners insurance.
Checking your city guidelines – before you install a diving board you may wish to check with your local city or town government as some of them may require building permits or regulations.
Diving board maintenance – maintenance on a diving board is relatively simple, the most important things to check for are cracking and surface wear. If you spot a crack it will need fixing immediately, secondly if there is surface wear on the diving board it may need replacing by using a resurfacing kit.
Installation – the installation of a diving board is very important, if you are not 100% confident then you must contact a professional installer
