If you plan to use your inground or above ground pool for a night swim, then a set of pool lights is what you need. Of course pool lights serve a second purpose, some people prefer having lights to create calming and tranquil spaces and with advances in pool lighting technology this is more achievable than ever.
Traditional pool lighting such as light bulbs and LED's are typically installed during construction of an in ground or above ground swimming pool. Of course if the pool is constructed without lights they can be installed afterwards (at a greater cost). Traditional pool lighting uses lights placed under the water at several locations, these lights are powered by electricity which feeds the bulbs. These special type of pool bulbs are secured in a water tight fitting.
Unfortunately traditional pool lights are sometimes fitted with inadequate equipment (or dirt cheap equipment) which can make the pool unsafe and also means you will be replacing parts more often then you expected.
Fibre optical lights are a much better and safer solution, because fibre optic light is passed through a fibre optic cable it means the electricity itself isn’t underwater. Light shines through these cables even if they are bent, which means the cables can be installed underground and the light source that feeds the fibre optic lighting can be installed (safely) above ground. Whilst fibre optic pool lighting is a more expensive option to install, it is easier to maintain.
